Shining Birthday Card

My card today is response to the challenge issued by the Global Design Project team.

GDP032

I am not really a light pink kind of girl. I mean, it’s pretty in sunsets and everything, but I like much bolder colors. Teal, red-orange, navy, majenta…

So my card is a very loose interpretation of Krista Frattin’s card. Stripes? Check. Shiny silver accent? Check. Scrolly cursive sentiment? Check! Pink…

… Check! Now Melon Mambo is my kind of pink!

I didn’t have a stamp that said “shine” but I did create some shine on this card and I’m really excited about it!

Using the magical combination of Adobe Illustrator, a drawing tablet, and a Cricut Explore Air, I drew some fun mussy circle shapes and cut them out in silver cardstock. These shapes are similar to some stickers that were part of a paper pumpkin kit from February. You can see the video here.

I needed some of these circles! Since they aren’t available from Stampin’ Up I created some of my own! (Spoiler: Not available…yet. I’ve seen some sneak peeks that indicate that something like this is coming. Want more catalog spoilers, check Kylie Bertucci’s blog.)

If you can’t wait and are fortunate enough to own a Cricut Explore Air or another cutting machine that can read png images, here are my illustrations, free for your use! If you do use them, please link me a photo of your project, I’d love to see what you come up with!

Tips:

  1. Make sure your paper is REALLY stuck down well on the cutting mat. I had some trouble the first time with the images coming unstuck before they were finished cutting!
  2. Choose a setting one or two notches higher than cardstock for Stampin’ Up or other thick cardstocks. The regular setting just won’t cut it all the way through.
  3. Open these images in another tab to save them at full size and resolution.

Thanks for visiting me today!
