My amazing Stampin’ Up Demonstrator, Jan V, issued our card club a triple challenge this month! (See the first challenge here.) The second challenge was to find an image in a magazine and make a card inspired by the image or color scheme.
I do most of my reading of articles and things online. The only magazine that actually gets delivered to our house is Healthy Cooking, so this was an interesting challenge indeed! I found a whimsical waffle advertisement with a primary color scheme and turned it into this bright and cheerful card.
I love how the little red lion noses mimic the color and shape of the strawberries! These were easy to color with the skinny end of a Stampin’ Write Marker.
Mind the Gap! I stamped both layers of this card at the same time so the lions would match up perfectly. When you stamp on two layers of paper, there is a little area where the papers overlap that doesn’t get inked because the papers are at slightly different elevations. This is okay, though, because once a colorful border is added around the stamped layers, you can’t see the gap any more!
Layers and layers! I like to add three dimensional aspects to my cards. The center panel is raised one level with dimensionals and the sentiment and one of the lions are raised yet another level. This adds texture and depth and I think makes a card more interesting.
This is a festive color scheme and card for any occasion. I sent this one to a good friend that is having a baby soon.
