Luck Strikes

Homemade card by Natalie Lapakko with Calling All Heros and Balloon Celebrations stamp sets from Stampin' Up!

It’s your lucky day, readers! Two posts in the same day! Has lightning struck twice? No, I’m just in a card challenge frenzy! There were so many inspiring ideas this week that I just had to participate in them all.

This card was inspired by the Mojo Monday challenge for this week.

Having just created a star themed card last week, I decided to go with a different shape: Lightning Bolts! Spring isn’t just about sunny days and flowers, we also need those Spring showers to help green everything up!

To tie everything in this card together, I put a black border around everything. It all started with those cute little raindrops in the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper, then spread to the clouds from Balloon Celebrations, which I drew by hand since there wasn’t a coordinating outline stamp. I would like to point out that these lines are not quite perfect ON PURPOSE. The raindrops are a little off center with their outlines, so I tried to match that style.

Where was I? Oh, black borders. Yes. I also added thin black borders around each of the paper panels. Black is a really stark and strong color, so thin, thin border stand out just as well as a thicker border would in a different color.

In the end, all these black borders around things give this card a bit of a comic book look.

Tips:

All the lightning bolts are the same stamp! I just shortened them to different lengths and drew a solid black line across the top of the shape.
