My mom occasionally reads my blog (Hi Mom! Love you like crazy!) so I couldn’t post this until after Mother’s Day. I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise.
Now that this card has been safely delivered, I can post about it here!
New Technique! I tried a glue resist for the first time. First, I stamped the flower from the stamp set What I Love from Stampin’ Up! Then, with a paintbrush I added a thin layer of Elmer’s glue on top of the flowers. After this was dry I sponged on Pear Pizazz, Blushing Bride, and So Saffron ink using circular rubbing motions.
Where I added glue the ink wasn’t able to stick to the cardstock as well as it did in other areas, so the color is much lighter. I had thought that the flowers would be pure white, but they weren’t. Later I will experiment with different types of glue or more layers to see what happens. I do like how this turned out even though it wasn’t expected, so those experiments will have to wait!
I added a black circle and additional pure Whisper White flowers using dimensionals to add depth.
For those that were wondering, my mom loved the card and we had a lovely Mother’s Day!
