Happy Halloween!

Happy halloween with inspiration from Stamp Witch Natalie Lapakko

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is so fun! I love costumes and playing pretend, I love making things and giving them as treats to friends and coworkers, and I love that there is a day to just be silly and have fun. You can even wear a witch hat in public or at work.

In honor of Halloween, I’m sharing a couple of fun and inspiring Halloween projects. We’ve got to go out trick-or-treating, though (and you probably do, too) so I’ll keep the descriptions short today!

Sweet Home, Spooky Style!

The Sweet Home Thinlit Dies are perfect for creating tiny houses! You could make a gingerbread house, a little beach cottage, or a haunted mansion!

This spooky little house started with a Wood Textures Designer Series Paper base, and is all dolled up for a Halloween party with Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango banners and Gold Mini Sequins trim all around the eaves.

Want to make your own spooky house? Here’s some tips:

  • Adhere the banners, especially the sequins, BEFORE adhering the roof. That way, you can tuck the ends in where they won’t be visible.
  • Use white gel pen for fun accents on the banners.
  • Stagger the shingle pieces, moving some to the left and some to the right, so the same shape doesn’t line up. After they are all in place trim the ends off all at once to match the edge of a solid roof piece below.
  • Enamel Shapes are the perfect size for a little round doorknob!
  • Putting together a haunted house isn’t difficult, but it is time consuming! Make sure you block out enough time to add all the cute little details and make your Sweet Home truly spooky!

Halloween Hugs Card

This card showcases some of my favorite Halloween colors. I’ve been loving bright colors this year, especially adding bright blues and greens to the more traditional orange and black scheme. This card incorporates both Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist!

I started with an easy watercolor background. Yes, really. I just scribbled back and forth with a Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker, then used a wet paintbrush to follow those lines. It turns a drawn line into a painted line. I did the same thing on a die cut circle to add a little depth to the background. (You could also just cut the circle straight out of the background for a little eclipse technique action!)

I used Stampin’ Write markers again to color fun colored dots on a piece of black and white designer series paper from the Spooky Night collection. I used Peekaboo Peach, Tangerine Tango, and Lemon Lime Twist.

The cat is punched out with the Cat Punch (so quick and easy!) and the hugs sentiment is from the Lovely Words Thinlit Dies set. The pumpkin comes from my favorite stamp set of the seasons, Pick a Pumpkin! The Stamp Review Crew reviewed it yesterday, did you see all the pumpkin inspiration?
