Happy Birthday Little Sunshine

Today’s card was inspired by the Seize the Birthday Challenge: Sunshine Theme!

I kept this card clean and simple, opting for a wide center panel with a thin border of Basic Black and a strip of Crushed Curry patterned paper from It’s My Birthday Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up!

The Little Sunshine stamp (from the Hello stamp set by Stampin’ Up!) was stamped on vellum so the Happy Birthday stamp (from Happy Birthday Everyone) could shine through.

Vellum is clear, so it is sometimes (read: nearly always) difficult to figure out how to stick it to the card without the adhesive being really obvious. In this card, I used two glue dots, placed right at the ends of the straight lines that go through the sentiment. Glue dots work really well for this: they are strong, clear, small, and easy to camouflage under a stamped sentiment or an embellishment of some kind.

This clean and simple card would be a great birthday card for a baby…or really anyone whom you consider your sunshine! This card, or one of a similar layout, would make a great swap. It would be really easy to make multiples.

Tip: I use Staz-On ink when stamping on vellum. It is a very permanent ink that is resistant to smudging and it sticks to everything, including really smooth surfaces like vellum.

Thanks for visiting and happy stamping!

  1. The white space on your CAS card really works to make the sentiment “pop”. The way that you did the sentiment was so clever. Thanks for joining us at Seize the Birthday. Hope to see you again.
