Complementary Flowers

This card features one of my favorite color schemes! The official art term for this type of color scheme is “complimentary” color scheme, meaning the colors are on the exact opposite sides of the color wheel.

Here’s what this color scheme looks like on a color wheel:

This image comes from color.adobe.com, a great tool for all artists who use color!

See how far apart those colors are? Okay, not exact opposites, but pretty darn close. When colors from far apart on the color wheel are juxtaposed, they create a lot of contrast which can make the elements on a card really pop!

If you, too, like a lot of contrast, try this color combination!

Lessons learned: I attached my ribbon using snail adhesive, but I didn’t think I needed to cover the entire back of the ribbon with it. It looked fine at first, but the ribbon loosened up just a little bit and it sags just a tiny bit where there wasn’t adhesive. Learn from my mistake and make sure your ribbon is firmly attached!

Thanks for visiting and happy stamping!
